About Rachel

Hey! I'm Rachel, a native German speaker with fluent Russian and business proficient Spanish. I am a recent graduate from Durham University with a BA in History and Russian Language.

I have previous experience tutoring GCSE and A-Level German students in oral comprehension and translation. I have also given casual conversation classes to mature students and younger children learning German for pleasure.

I have experience working with corporate German at the Accenture Consulting Group and offer specialised classes in German financial and business etiquette.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I aim to make my lessons enjoyable and to cultivate a long-lasting appreciation and interest in the subject beyond the syllabus. I have experience teaching the new GCSE syllabus for German, as well as learning under the revised A Level system, and therefore understand the level of comprehension now required.

With this in mind I always strive to make lessons as enjoyable as possible without straying too far from the syllabus. For mature students, I have a programme of casual conversation classes and oral comprehension with translation works to be done in private study.

For professionals working within the DACH sphere, I offer financial and business-level German classes.

I offer both group and one-to-one lessons.

Rachel was really useful in helping me get to grips with my German and really picking up on my weaknesses such as grammar and tenses. The lessons were also made more fun with her references to modern German pop culture; as well as teaching me little things to further my personal interests on modernist architecture.
