I offer patient, focused and professional tutoring which encourages an appetite for learning and deep subject understanding, all with a flexible approach attentive to the needs of each individual.
I trained to teach with the University of Oxford in 2012 and have since taught in secondary schools and tutorial colleges in Oxfordshire and Wiltshire. This experience has developed my ability to be flexible and to tailor tutoring to the needs of the student. I have been an examiner for the Edexcel A-level qualification for a number of years and thus have a good knowledge of exam technique. In February 2019 I will attain masters status in Learning and Teaching from the University of Oxford, where I focused on teaching Mathematics to pupils whose first language is not English. This background in research and results-based understanding of ‘how learning happens’ means that I can offer thoughtfully structured sessions which are highly effective at generating understanding and efficient in their use of time.
As a teacher, people normally notice my enthusiasm and love of teaching mathematics. My aim is to help my students to become confident and enthusiastic learners and to equip them with the skills to become effective and inquisitive independent learners.
Aside from working as a private tutor, I work part time at the Oxford Tutorial College and for the Oxford Open Learning Trust. As such, I have been recently DBS checked. In my free time I will be dancing salsa and leading the Oxford University Salsa Society as president of the committee.
