About Isabella
I started music lessons at age 5 and never stopped since then. During my childhood, I studied privately with various singing and piano teachers, and participated in choirs and musicals. My high school had a music department in which I had private lessons with a voice, piano and music theory teacher (instead of taking art, theater or band). During this time, I trained in classical, jazz, and pop singing and continued performing in my school's yearly musical theater shows. I was the school's "music kid" and was awarded "musical personality of the year". After high school, I completed a 3-year technical DEC from Vanier College in Voice Performance. Here, I honed my skills in jazz, pop, motown, funk, and a bit of blues and rock. I also expanded my music theory, composing and arranging knowledge. At this time, I started performing in a few bands in venues around Montreal. I also won the Jury Favorite award of the American Protégé International Competition and performed at Carnegie Hall (Weill Hall) in New York City. I went on to getting a bachelor's from McGill University in Jazz Voice Performance. My education at this point became much more focused on jazz and I learned how to improvise, compose, and arrange in this style. I continued developing my skills in funk and R&B and neo-soul music outside of school by being a part of bands and projects that performed covers and originals in venues around Montreal. I am now completing a master's at Concordia University in Music Therapy. I teach from home, and perform regularly in restaurants, hotels, lounges, clubs, private events and festivals both in- and outside of Montreal.

I truly believe that everyone has the potential to be a good singer. Therefore, I am happy to teach all levels. Whether you are a beginner and want to start a new hobby, preparing for an audition for a competition or music school, or just looking to continue your personal growth as a musician, you will gain something from studying with me. My singing reached a new level when my voice teacher explained vocal technique to me. Learning how to properly use my voice allowed me to extend my range, and have better control over my tone while decreasing risks of damaging my voice. Therefore, I always start my lessons with warm-ups that draw on classical techniques to reinforce vocal health. Then, I leave it up to my students to bring the songs they want to work on in the lesson. I love so many genres of music and am grateful when my students introduce me to different genres and new artists. More than anything, I want my students to have fun learning how to sing.
