About Zakea

Zakea is a film maker, multi-disciplinary artist and designer from New Zealand. His work has been exhibited in America, New Zealand, China and Switzerland. He was a finalist for the Wellington Regional Arts Review in 2018, and a three-time finalist for the New Zealand National Youth Art Awards.

Zakea is also a live painter and has performed at the China International Export Expo and at the halftime show of the 2017 FIH Women's Hockey World League Final in Auckland.

He has a passion for art and design and wants to share it with students. He believes that the youth are the future, and wants to be part of developing the next generation of designers and creatives.

About the lesson

Teaching Techniques and Methodology:

My approach incorporates contemporary and traditional techniques including creative thinking, critical analysis and practical exercises to develop advanced and basic skills. A variety of styles and media are covered to ensure successful exam preparation.

Typical lesson length: 1.5 hours, but can be longer or shorter depending on the student's needs.

Qualifications and experience: I have a degree in Creative Media Production from Massey University and experience tutoring and teaching students of all ages. As a multidisciplinary artist, I have exhibited my work worldwide, including solo exhibitions in Shanghai and England. Notably, I am the first person to design an Olympic medal and perform at an Olympic Games Opening Ceremony. My award winning film 'Ink and Gold' is the only New Zealand short documentary to qualify for the 96th Academy Awards.
