About Jess
Hi, my name is Jessi. I have 14 years of experience in education, working in both mainstream and special provision settings. Currently, I am employed at a college located within a prison. Throughout my career, I have worked with SATs and functional skills levels, and I hold a PGCE specialising in English and Special Educational Needs (SEN). Additionally, I have completed my TEFL certification, which enables me to teach English as a second language. If you are looking for a creative and imaginative approach to learning the fundamentals of English, I am your tutor! I am very patient and have various methods to help you navigate and understand the complexities of the English language.

I take an unconventional approach to my lessons, having taught a diverse range of students with varying ages and abilities. I specialise in Special Educational Needs (SEN) and have delivered phonics training, which allows me to break down concepts into bite-sized pieces, making them easier to understand. I am a patient and flexible teacher who reflects on my methods. As a visual learner on the ADHD spectrum, I recognise that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning. I have extensive knowledge of pedagogy and andragogy that inform how we learn and retain information, which helps me determine the best learning strategies for each individual. Everyone can learn a language; it's just a matter of discovering whether the most effective method is visual, oral, or kinetic. In the wise words of Albert Einstein; I never teach my pupils; I only attempt to provide the conditions they can learn.
