About Abigail
Folks often assume I am a stickler for rigid posture, but I actually prefer a relaxed approach to playing. My Bachelor of Arts in Ethnomusicology from UCLA shapes how I view the instrument today. Having taught 114 students over 9 years of experience, I know that sound comes from the body, not just the page.
We focus on scales and arpeggios, double stops, and shifting positions to build your foundation. I emphasize orchestral playing alongside spiccato and staccato bowing to round out your skills.
Tuning by ear remains the core of my identity as a musician. You will find my teaching style is rooted in the tradition I grew up with in Appalachia. I am confident that we will find your voice.

Usually we start with a fiddle tune, finding the melody by ear before touching a single sheet of music. It feels less like a classroom and more like those old pickin parties I knew as a kid.
Whether you are a teen, a hobbyist, or a grade exam candidate, we bridge the gap between structure and intuition. I guide intermediate learners through bowing technique and intonation with a focus on natural movement.
Self-taught players often find the transition to formal technique smoother than they expected. My 9 years of experience means I can quickly adapt to your specific musical needs. I provide free bowing and posture reference notes after each lesson to keep you on track. You can count on me to keep things comfortable and focused on the sound.
