About Omar

I have experience tutoring both Mathematics and Further Mathematics, ranging from Key Stage 3 through to university admissions tests.

I was awarded a Master of Mathematics (MMath) degree from the University of Oxford, graduating with a 2:1 and Merit. I also achieved top grades in both Mathematics and Further Mathematics at GCSE and A-level.

Throughout my studies, I have developed a strong appreciation for the value of hard work and consistent practice. Whilst I believe these are the foundations of success, the right support and guidance can make a huge difference to a student's confidence, progress, and enjoyment of the subject.

I am a calm, patient, and empathetic tutor who always aims to work at a pace that suits the individual student. Whether a student is preparing for GCSEs, A-levels, or university admissions tests, my goal is to help them build confidence and develop the knowledge and problem-solving skills needed to achieve their full potential.

About the lesson

Although every lesson is tailored to the individual student's needs, the typical structure is as follows:

The first lesson is free and is used to assess the student's current level, understand their goals, and determine whether we are a good fit for one another.

Subsequent lessons begin with a brief recap of the previous session, followed by clear learning objectives for the lesson. These objectives provide structure and direction, but I never believe in rushing through content at the expense of genuine understanding.

Lessons are designed to be interactive, allowing students to develop and apply their mathematical intuition as new ideas are introduced in a supportive environment where mistakes are treated as an important part of the learning process. Once concepts have been explored, we will work through exam-style questions that are appropriate to the student's current level and goals.

For online lessons, shared whiteboards and notes will be provided after each session. Whilst I believe homework can be extremely beneficial, whether homework is set can be discussed according to a student's individual circumstances and time commitments.

For students preparing for MAT, TMUA, or STEP, sessions place particular emphasis on mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and developing the deeper intuition required to perform well in these examinations.
