About Richard
I have spent my entire career – almost forty years – in chemistry in one way or another. I began working as a researcher in a prestigious corporate research laboratory and later transitioned to running my own business developing crystal technology. I had the good fortune to work on several exciting technology projects including lithium batteries and lasers that have resulted in important commercial products. I later joined the chemistry faculty at a large community college, where I was able to incorporate much of my experience into making chemistry exciting and relevant to students. I pioneered the incorporation of several new pedagogical approaches to enhance the classroom experience. I mentored dozens of students in research projects and internships who went on to successful careers in many fields. I still keep in touch with many of them today. In tutoring I seek to share my knowledge, experience, and passion for chemistry to enable students to success in their academic careers.
