About Kaitlin
Hi there! My name is Kaitlin, and I would love to accompany you on your music journey. I have accumulated about 10 years of music theory experience thus far and have shared this knowledge to help my peers when I was in high school as well as younger students during lockdown. I am confident that I will be able to assist you in every area of music theory, at any level. Feel free to contact me for "crash-course" lessons before tests or exams, too!

As a musician with over 10 years of practical and theoretical experience, I offer private tutoring services with a focus on fostering a comprehensive understanding of music. My lessons are designed to cater to students at various skill levels, from beginners to those aspiring to achieve UNISA grade 6 in music theory and aural skills.
My teaching style incorporates both practical and theoretical aspects of music education. As a fluent English and Afrikaans speaker, I provide a bilingual learning experience, ensuring that students can grasp music theory concepts in the language they are most comfortable with.
One notable aspect of my tutoring approach is the use of a piano for visual and audio examples. This hands-on approach allows students to not only understand theoretical concepts but also hear and see how they translate into practical application on the piano. This visual and auditory reinforcement can enhance the learning experience and make abstract concepts more tangible.
To monitor and motivate my students, I incorporate relaxed progress tests as milestones throughout the learning journey. These tests serve as checkpoints, allowing both myself and my students to track their development and celebrate achievements. This approach creates a sense of accomplishment and motivation, encouraging students to persist in their musical studies!
