About Aliya

I am an Architectural Assistant studying and working towards becoming a qualified Architect. I also work part time at Nottingham Trent University as a Studio Tutor for the Architecture department, tutoring on the same course that I used to study!

In my second year of university I tutored young people with Tutors United in years 5 and 6 after their school day which I thoroughly enjoy. Being able to see the pupils gain confidence and knowledge is an amazing experience and I am glad that I had this opportunity.

As I enjoyed this quite a lot and gained a lot of experience I decided to get myself involved in mentoring. I decided to mentor 3 students weekly at a local school through a university scheme to help them with any problems that arise within their lives.

In my third and final year of university I worked as a Student Ambassador representing my university at various events such as open days. On of my favourite duties as a Student Ambassador was to go into schools and tell them about university, they were able to ask questions and get a better idea of what university is like and if they want to attend.

About the lesson

From my experience of having an amazing tutor to help me through 11+ exams I know the importance of receiving help from someone other than a teacher within the school. It offers a teaching style that could be more effective on the student and give them the extra support that they need. I believe everyone has the potential to be great and I would love the chance to use my knowledge to help someone else.
