About Marta
Hello,
I'm a 23-year-old King's College London graduate. In 2016, I obtained a BSc in Mathematics, and I recently completed a MSc in Theoretical Physics. Originally from Italy, I've been living and studying in the UK for the past four years. Furthermore, although I obtained the Italian high school diploma (equivalent of GCSEs and A-Levels), I spent year 12 as an international student at a sixth form in Durham County and I studied AS Maths, Further Maths, Physics, English Literature and History.
Over the years, I've been tutoring many students of all ages, predominantly in Maths and Physics. I've worked with university students, as well as secondary school pupils. Furthermore, In year 12, I took part in a tutoring scheme ran by my college, therefore I would sit in Year 9 Maths classes (lower set) and offer help to those students who needed it.
I rather enjoy teaching and I try my best to make the subject as engaging as possible. My approach to tutoring is very flexible and versatile, as it depends on the needs and skills of the student. I usually tend to explain some theory first, then provide multiple worked examples, thereby setting some exercises, to make sure that the student has understood what we have discussed. However, some students prefer a more exercise-based or theory-based approach, and I modify my teaching accordingly. My main objective is to make sure the student gains more confidence in the subject, which would ultimately turn studying the topic into a pleasant experience.

Prizes and Scholarships :
EPSRC Undergraduate Research Award (summer of 2015) - This is a research bursary that was awarded to me in the summer of my second year of university. Over the span of three months, I worked on a research project under the supervision of one of my lecturers, Dr. Paul Cook. I focused on solitons, a rather peculiar kind of wave.
Other Qualifications :
Esame di Stato - Maturità Scientifica (High school diploma, Italian equivalent of GCSEs and A-Levels) from Liceo Scientifico L. Pasteur.
Overall Score - 100/100 with 15/15 in the Maths and Italian written exams and 30/30 in the Oral exam.
