About Alfonso

I've been a French teacher for 8 years and have worked in public and private schools. I have also worked at the university level and I have my own French Conversation club with other French teachers from around my city, which basically means I have taught the language to my peers. I lived, studied, and worked in France (Normandy and Nouvelle Aquitaine to be more precise). A country and a culture that are very special to me and that have taught me so much. I want to share my knowledge with anyone who is as passionate for the French language as I am.

About the lesson

Quand il s'agit d'apprendre le français je m'appuie sur les directives qu'on peut trouver dans le CECRL. Il est important de faire développer chez l'apprenant toutes les compétences langagières : production écrite/orale, compréhension écrite/orale, et de l'interaction écrite/orale.
Dans mes leçons, je privilégie les documents authentiques parce qu'il est important que les apprenants soient exposés au français courant de tous les jours utilisé dans plusieurs contextes car l'apprentissage n'a pas lieu que dans les livres.
Pour terminer mes leçons, j'aime adopter un principe propre à l'enseignement du français, la réflexion sur une problématique, ce qui pousse mes apprenants non seulement à utiliser le français mais aussi à réfléchir sur la thématique. Si jamais mes élèves envisagent de passer le DELF ou le DALF ils doivent être capable de mener leur réflexion à un niveau élevé.

When it comes to teaching French, I rely on and use as my teaching reference the CECRL. It is very important to help learners develop all their language aptitudes: oral/written expression, oral/written comprehension and oral/written interaction.
In my lessons, I also incorporate the use of authentic documents, meaning documents that will give my students the opportunity to use real life French used by natives in multiple contexts because I believe that learning French is not something done just by using books.
To finish my lessons, I like to use something unique to French pedagogy which is critical thinking on a subject. This allows my students to not only use what we have learned but to question the subject at hand and go beyond linguistic components. Especially if my students are thinking of getting certified through DELF and DALF exams.
