About Sean
I am a recent college graduate from the University of Wisconsin - Madison with degrees in Physics and Applied Mathematics. I have helped my fellow classmates who are struggling with challenging material understand the crucial concepts at hand, and I have tutored English as a second language this summer. I am currently looking for students who may be struggling with calculus who need a teacher that can teach to their style of learning. Regardless of your level of comfort with the subject, I cannot wait to help you understand and succeed!

I am quite a derivational and visual learner, so I will bias my teaching heavily in these directions. Being a maths student also means I like to eliminate as many assumptions as possible and introduce crucial axioms to whatever subject I am teaching. However, I am flexible and often times this approach is too rigorous and theoretical. So, I like to introduce specific, tangible examples for the student to grapple with so that they gain a better intuition for the often-times abstruse definition - theorem - proof model that math education is so prone to following. The specific examples that I believe are necessary to learning the material almost always will include practicing specific problems, for it is easy to think that you know what a theorem or definition says, but without applying it to a novel question, you would have no idea that it can be applied in such a manner. I also believe that by answering specific questions, you are able to gain a greater intuition for the definitions and theorems as well as concepts through a myriad of viewpoints, which is necessary once you move higher up in mathematics (if that is your aim) as well as beneficial in any role or capacity that you see yourself in later in life.

Sean is one of the most intelligent people I've ever met! His analytical thought processes can hand the most complex situations and problems. As a teacher, he can effectively teach concepts in different ways to suit a student's needs. Further, he is capable of analyzing a student's level of understanding of the material and working with them on that level. Highly recommend!
