About Olivia

My name is Olivia and I’m in my final year of A-Levels, studying English Literature, Politics, and Philosophy & Religion. Over the past two years, I’ve tutored and worked with pupils in primary schools, including SEN learners, which has shaped my approach into one that is patient, enthusiastic and adaptable.

I’m a prospective UCL 2026 student with a strong interest in the philosophical and sociological debates surrounding science and technology. Coming from a highly academic boarding school, I’ve developed strong critical-thinking skills and a genuine love for learning - something I bring into every lesson through engaging, intellectually stimulating teaching.

I care deeply about creating a space where students feel supported, confident and able to reach their full potential. Having experienced the pressure of GCSEs myself, I understand how overwhelming exams can feel, and I’m committed to guiding students through the process with clarity, reassurance and structure.

I have strong subject knowledge across Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Judaism and Ethics, and achieved a grade 9 in GCSE Religious Studies. I specialise in helping students break down complex ideas and express arguments clearly, with a strong focus on AO1 and AO2 skills.

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to feel engaging, purposeful and energising. I always begin with a quick catch-up to see how the student is feeling and whether there’s anything they’re finding challenging or particularly interesting. This helps me personalise the session right from the start.

From there, we move into a focused exploration of the topic, breaking down ideas clearly and discussing them in a way that feels approachable rather than overwhelming. I adapt the level of challenge depending on the student’s stage, building core skills, resilience and confidence at a pace that suits them.

Once the main concept is secure, we apply it through practice activities tailored to the student’s needs — whether that’s guided reading, structured paragraph practice, exam-style questions or developing analytical arguments. I keep lessons upbeat and enjoyable while still pushing students to think deeply and stretch themselves.

At the end of each session, we summarise what we’ve covered, highlight any key takeaways, and plan the focus for the next lesson. I also keep track of each student’s progress over time, noting strengths, areas for development and improvements. Where appropriate, I update parents so they feel informed and reassured about how their child is getting on.
