Patient and passionate biomedical student eager to teach. - Chemistry tutor with Andre

I am writing this as Andre’s high school chemistry teacher, I now work as head of the science department.
It is a pleasure for me to write this letter of recommendation for Andre Grigorian, who was my student in Standard Level Chemistry in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. I was his teacher for the full two-year program and for one year for his retake in chemistry. Andre is a student with a lot of positivity and curiosity. He came out to a not so great start in IB and was not able to quite get the results that he needed the first time around. However, the last year showed that Andre is a very hard worker and was able to accomplish a lot when he puts his mind to it.
His grades improved greatly as compared to the years prior, even achieving top grades on individual tests. His understanding for the subject has gotten better as has his interest for the sciences. Andre is a student with fantastic drive and was a joy to watch as he continued to improve academically, and how he is proud and grateful for his own accomplishments. Andre is fluent in English, and language has never been an issue for him in his studies. During his last year he also showed a new side, his newfound confidence in chemistry showed in him helping his fellow students. He never says no if asked for help. Andre is a friendly, polite, social and helpful person. He proved to be an excellent addition to the class and contributed to a positive and good learning environment. I extend my recommendation for Andre, as he shows strong academic interest, work ethic, motivation and strong social skills.
Having previously struggled a bit with his subjects, I believe he has great insight I how to motivate, how to understand and how to learn. I know I would rather have a teacher/tutor that at some point had to work hard, and had to overcome challenges, that has had to find smart ways of learning new things and figuring them out rather than one to whom it has always come easy. There is a great deal of first-hand experience that cannot be taught that Andre can bring with him. On top of that is his gentle, humble and caring nature.
I highly recommend Andre for this position, and letting him keep up the great work with helping others that he already started in high school.
