About Yunus

I'm Yunus, a Mathematics and Physics tutor with approximately 14 years of one-to-one tutoring experience. I currently teach students following international curricula, including Pearson Edexcel International GCSE, and work with students based in the UK as well as internationally.

My academic background is strongly rooted in Mathematics. I received Mathematical Olympiad training during high school and later ranked 160th nationwide in Turkey's university entrance examination, among more than 2 million candidates.

I now specialise in helping students prepare for demanding Mathematics and Physics examinations through a combination of conceptual understanding, structured practice and exam strategy.

I particularly enjoy working with students who want to understand the reasoning behind Mathematics and Physics rather than simply memorising procedures. My goal is to make difficult concepts intuitive, identify exactly what is limiting a student's performance, and turn that understanding into measurable improvement in exam questions.

I teach online and can deliver lessons entirely in English or Turkish.

About the lesson

My lessons are structured specifically around the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE Mathematics and Physics specifications.
I begin by identifying the student's current level, topic gaps and the reasons behind lost marks. From there, we build a targeted study plan rather than simply working through the textbook chapter by chapter.
Lessons combine clear conceptual teaching with Edexcel exam-style questions, past papers and mark-scheme analysis. In Maths and Physics, I focus particularly on helping students understand why a method or formula works, so they can apply it confidently to unfamiliar questions rather than relying on memorisation.
As exams approach, we increasingly focus on past papers, recurring mistakes, timing and exam technique. Homework is assigned according to the student's weaknesses and progress is monitored throughout the process.

Lessons are delivered 1-to-1 online via Zoom, entirely in English if preferred.
