About Callie
Playing music feels like a conversation where the instrument speaks back to you. I remember the exact moment during my BFA in Contemporary Music Performance at USC Thornton when jazz theory suddenly made sense for pop music.
Over 12 years of experience, I have learned that adults and teens play best when they focus on the music they love. I enjoy working with 350 students who range from absolute beginners to working professionals. My approach relies on your specific musical taste. I avoid rigid formulas.
You can expect a hands-on method that keeps things grounded in real songs. I promise to keep our sessions focused on the techniques that matter most to your playing style.

Your first session starts with us identifying the songs you already know and the ones you want to perform. We look at blues progressions and fingerpicking patterns as tools to build your confidence on the fretboard. I use my BFA background to simplify complex ideas like reading sheet music or mastering power chords. We will track your progress through 12 years of teaching insight.
It is fun to watch students realize that barre chords and ear training are actually quite manageable. Reading tabs becomes natural once you understand the underlying theory behind the notes.
