About Jonathan

Howdy! My name is Jonathan. I am a graduate of Texas A&M University, where I got my BS in Applied Mathematics. I began tutoring 11 years ago, starting with an entry-level tutoring position at a company. I continued working in freelancing throughout college and after a brief career as a classroom teacher, ultimately turned tutoring into my life's work. Over the years, I have helped students raise their math and science grades by multiple letters and their test scores by often several points. Helping my students achieve their educational/professional goals, get into the school of their choice and land the job they want remains a passion of mine to this day. All of my work is done virtually and this is my full-time job, so location and schedule present zero obstacles in helping my students.

About the lesson

My tutoring style largely employs the Socratic method. I ask probing questions, encouraging students to think critically about problem solving and therefore learn the material as opposed to just memorizing it. This way they retain the knowledge after putting it down on an exam paper, and remain prepared and confident for final exams and future coursework. What sets me apart from my competition is that I am very adaptable to my students' learning styles. Whether a student learns best visually or audibly, by example or by the Socratic method, my services are tailored to each individual so they can get the most out of our time together. I offer tutoring for all ages and education levels, at all levels of Mathematics up to AP Calculus BC, Physics, Chemistry, and Statistics. Additionally I can help you prepare for the SAT, ACT, or GRE. I am available almost any day and time of the week, depending on how many students I have at any given time. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you reach your potential!

My rate structure is as follows: 30 minutes: $45 45 minutes: $60 1 hour or longer: $75/hour The first hour is offered at the 30-minute price of $45. If you pay for 5 hours in advance the price is $337.50 (10% off) If you pay for 10 hours in advance the price is $650 (about 13.3% off)
