About Katie
I tutored engineering and science students in calculus for over two years as a junior/senior level biomedical engineering major while at The City College of New York , and also have many years of experience mentoring younger students in a laboratory space from my time as a PhD candidate at Boston University. I also spent two semesters as a TA at BU, hosting both weekly discussion sections with 30+ students and small group/one-on-one office hours for a mid-level biomechanics course, which is also math and concept heavy. I take a very fundamental approach to my teaching, trying to explain the "why" of each step in a complicated process/problem, not just stressing the final result.

I started succeeding in my calculus courses once I determined the best way for me personally to learn, which isn't always the same way your professor teaches. And that's okay! As a tutor, I am flexible to help you find the way that YOU like to learn, and then we can build from there. I have exstensive experience with 1st and 2nd year engineering students who are passionate about their degree, but haven't quite figured out how to tackle their difficult calculus classes.
