About Cameron

I'm a good-natured patient tutor. I struggled in high school but I learned to teach myself effectively and turned my grades around my junior year. I went on to excel in college graduating summa cum laude (GPA 3.98). My grades were high enough that I was handpicked by the university to give one on one tutoring to students who were struggling. Since then I have worked as a tutor helping students achieve mastery in difficult STEM topics.

I believe my struggles in high school helped make me an understanding and effective tutor. I understand how schools need to teach in a way that isn't effective for every student. So I base my teaching style to cater to the individual to make every subject more accessible to the student.

About the lesson

My first objective as a tutor is to identifying the desired outcomes of a particular student. Next I like to create a lesson plan tailored to achieving the desired goals.

My typical lesson plan is a three part process:
1. I determine gaps in student understanding around the topic and provide supplementary explanations and materials to fill the gap
2. I walk students through examples giving a comprehensive guide on what steps to take with each problem and why each step is necessary
3. I have the student teach me how to do an example problem to gauge their understanding and ensure that they can use the skills from tutoring in an exam setting

In working with the student I like to identify their preferred style of learning and adapt my lesson around how the student learns.

I excel at teaching teaching any High school or College level STEM course. Particularly Physics, Calculus, Statistics, and Chemistry.
