About Abbey
I am a final year History of Art PhD researcher at the University of Birmingham. My research focuses on women printmakers in France and the German-speaking world between 1918 and 1933, with a particular focus on questions of gender, sexuality and eroticism. I graduated from the University of Birmingham with a Distinction in MA History of Art and hold a First-Class BA in the History of Art from the University of Nottingham. I have three years of experience delivering lectures and seminars to History of Art students at the University of Birmingham, as well as assessing student presentations, coursework and exams. Additionally, I have considerable experience of delivering papers and convening panels at academic conferences. I have undertaken proofreading work for academic colleagues, demonstrating the standard of my written communication, as well as my desire to foster a collegial research culture. My research on interwar women artists has been published in a number of interdisciplinary academic edited collections and exhibition catalogues in the United Kingdom and in Germany. My research has been recognised by the Royal Historical Society and the Association for Art History. I have also presented my research on female artists in Germany's Weimar Republic (1918-1933) as part of the Leo Baeck Institute (New York) podcast series, Exile.

I am a specialist History of Art tutor, with a particular focus on women artists and modern art. I am committed to lifelong learning and I provide individual bespoke lessons to students of all ages and from all backgrounds studying History of Art at A-Level, BA and MA level. With three years of experience as a postgraduate teaching associate at the University of Birmingham, I can support students at all stages of their art history journey with essay writing, presentations, dissertations and exam prep. Under my tutelage, students will gain confidence with their writing and research skills. I believe in a student-centred approach to teaching, with all lessons tailored to the individual needs of the student. I encourage students to think of themselves as active participants, rather than passive recipients of knowledge.
