About Katherine
I am originally from Austin, Texas, and I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology at Saint Louis University. I am currently in my second year of my PhD in Microbiology and Immunology at UBC, and am hoping to work toward a career in research and teaching. I love to share my passion for science, and I understand the stresses that come with being a student. In my free time, I love to cook, bake, run, and spend time outside!

I love sharing my enthusiasm about science and math with others, but I also understand that both subjects can be intimidating. I aim to help students approach challenges with confidence, and to feel ready to tackle difficult courses. I use what I have learned in my own studies and encourage students to focus on the knowledge and application rather than the grade. I know that memorization and setting a grade as a goal can be stressful. When working toward knowledge and deeper understanding, I find that the grade ultimately reflects that. I work with students ranging from middle school through University, and can help with Biology at all levels, along with Math through Algebra 1.
