About Colby

As a piano teacher for over 15 years, I have developed a studio of students that have achieved notable accomplishments: an acceptance into a top music conservatory, several top prizes in piano competitions, successful completion of ABRSM and NYSSMA examinations, and of course, a lifelong love and passionate interest in music. I am also a NYS certified music teacher with experience in curriculum development. In addition, I am also a vocal coach, having worked with some of the most successful opera singers of this generation.

About the lesson

In addition to piano lessons, students study music theory, ear training, sight reading and composition.
Also, lessons are tailored to the unique needs of each student, whether it be by preference of musical genre (classical, rock, pop, etc.) or learning style (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, etc.)
The lesson lengths range from 30 minutes to 1 hour depending on the students age and needs.

Perfect! Thanks for the internet, we found a treasure teacher for our child. Have you been straggling with how to choose your kids’s piano teacher ? A nice person but maybe not that professional? A professional person but you kids might not like the teacher style? Here comes the third choice: a person both professional and nice and even more——interesting! Colby is THIS person who can light up your kids’s eyes and heart!

Colby Charnin is an incredibly talented musician with the accolades to prove it. A graduate of the Manhattan School of Music with a degree in piano performance, he has been pursuing a career in music for almost a decade. This career extends to teaching, a field which he is equally talented in; he currently provides piano lessons at multiple institutions. His students have always seen major improvement under his guidance. As a current student of his, I can attest to this. I first went to Colby as a beginner on the piano, and because of his wisdom, I have progressed tremendously and am now studying in the Precollege division at the Manhattan School of Music. I will be applying to several music colleges in 2024 to further my pianistic endeavors. Colby holds valuable connections within the piano performance community that I am fortunate enough to have capitalized on.
