About Luke

I began learning to play the piano at the age of 8 at the renowned Orford Road Music Centre in Walthamstow Village, coincidentally in the same room my grandmother had learnt over 50 years prior. I have completed ABRSM grades 1-5 with my Grade 3 being a Jazz grade. I have performed at funerals and weddings as well as in Walthamstow town hall whilst in secondary school. At the age of 15 I composed a piece for a school competition which won the Adobe Youth Voices Award (2014). ((concealed information)

About the lesson

Having started tutoring so quickly after the end of my own tuition, I believe I understand the challenges required to motivate students to build their technical proficiency. Instilling a sense of joy and curiosity about music will motivate them to explore the piano and encourage them to take responsibility for their learning. This optimises lesson time ensuring a steady pace of progression while the student has fun. I teach grades 1-5 and can prepare the student to undertake their ABRSM Music gradings, both classical and jazz, or can help the student to simply increase their proficiency with the instrument. I only do outgoing calls at the student's house or online via zoom. I take beginners, intermediate, or any proficient pianists before grade 5. I do lessons in blocks of 1hr or 30mins, outgoing calls or online via zoom.
