About Roua

I'm Roua, a linguist and language teacher from Tunisia, where French was the language of my whole education. I hold a BA in English Language and Literature and an MA in Linguistics and English Studies, and I've worked professionally in French and English for over a decade: content production, translation, transcription and multilingual content for international companies, including work on an Oscar-nominated documentary.

Teaching has run alongside all of it. I co-founded a language center in Tunis and have taught more than 1,200 online lessons to adults from the Maghreb, the Gulf, Europe and North America. Arabic is my mother tongue, my French and English are both C2, and I've studied Turkish, German and Chinese as an adult learner, so I know what it feels like to be on your side of the screen.

I'm organized, punctual, and direct with feedback, because that's what makes lessons worth paying for.

About the lesson

I teach French to Arabic and English speakers, and I start from the mistakes your language makes you make. I grew up between Arabic and French, hold an MA in linguistics, and speak English at C2, so when you say "je suis allé au école" or pronounce every final letter, I know exactly where it comes from and how to fix it for good.

My lessons are built around speaking. A typical session opens with ten minutes of conversation at your level, then we work on one thing that came up (a structure, a sound, a set of words you keep reaching for), then we use it again in something close to your real life: ordering, a meeting, a message to a landlord, a DELF speaking task. You leave every lesson having said more than you thought you could.

I've given over 1,200 online lessons and co-founded a language centre before moving fully online. I work with adults and university students from complete beginner to C1, especially people preparing DELF/DALF, moving to a French-speaking country for work or study, or professionals who understand French well but freeze when they have to speak it.
