About Moore
Since I was in secondary school I realised I really enjoyed helping my classmates in subjects I was good at that they struggled with. This continued during my degree as in 2009 I began giving paid tuition as well as helping my fellow undergrads. It was an easy choice for me to then decide in 2014 to do a PGCE in secondary science education and am very glad of the skills I learnt from it. Currently in my postgraduate work I have also enjoyed supervising and teaching undergraduates. As my field of research, radiopharmacy, is multidisciplinary I have also gained experience helping fellow doctoral candidates, who did not come from a Chemistry background, gain the confidence they need. It has been interesting over the past few years to see the development in online teaching and the increased ease and flexibility this gives tutor and student.

My tutoring style is characterised by my positive and patient approach. I adapt to the specific needs of each and every student I have to figure out the best way for them to learn. My emphasis is on showing the interesting connections and patterns within science so that it is not a boring task of learning an impossible list of facts off by heart, but rather gain a deeper understanding of the topic, so that it makes sense. I have been tutoring since 2009, when I started my Chemistry degree, in 2015 I finished my Postgraduate Certificate in Education for secondary school science teaching and currently am working in radiopharmacy. I have tutored GCSE, A-level and degree level Chemistry to school students, undergraduates and doctoral candidates. My lessons are usually 60 minutes long but I am flexible to suit the student.

Perfect! Moore was great with my son, personable and engaging with useful feedback. We will continue with more lessons, thank you!
- Joined the lesson on time, was eager to learn and very polite throughout.See the response Moore :
Perfect! Ten minutes of introductions and the work began ! ( after some invaluable guidance and pointers even for me ! )James is totally on board ( I’m shocked ) and looking forward to taking his next lesson ( even more shocked). Moore obviously knew his stuff and I’m no longer anxious about the next few years! Pleased as punch that our paths have crossed.
Perfect! I thoroughly enjoyed my class with Moore.
I am a computer science student and linear algebra is a part of my curriculum.
Although I come from a different field than him, his profound understanding of math and science allows him to be an interdisciplinary teacher who can share his wealth of knowledge with many.
He is very patient and can answer questions in depth. He uses a software that allows to visualise mathematical problems, which proofs to be quite helpful in wrapping your head around more abstract problems.
Overall, he is exceptionally professional and helpful. His teaching style is kind and positive.
From my side, a clear recommendation!- Melissa was thoroughly engaged and eager to learn. She brought her own relevant experience and knowledge to the lesson and made it extremely productive for both of us. I highly recommend.See the response Moore :

Moore is a great tutor! He is always searching new ways to make the tutoring classes more interesting for the students, using different tools to boost their understanding of the subjects.
He's a responsible, respectful and knowledgeable tutor, who's always giving his best.
Communication with Moore has been really good and transparent the whole time, something I really value when choosing an online tutor.
I can't thank you enough for all the valuable lessons you have gave me so far and I'm looking forward to keep learning and improving my knowledge with your help!I met Moore during my Master thesis at a department which is very chemistry based. In the beginning I had quite some issues to follow, as I am a trained biologist. After Moore and I became friends, he taught to me chemistry with a great passion, which is motivating to the max. He really enjoys chemistry and his enthusiasm affected me a lot. Because of his teaching skills, I was able to get a position for a heavily chemistry focussed PhD.
MSc. Ian Moore is my friend and flatmate. We have known each other for 5 years and in this time he has always struck me as a person who loves to educate others, as well as a very keen eye for detail. Alongside the large range of topics he can teach people, he is also very motivated to learn new things and apply them.
One particular strength of Moore is his unyielding patience, even when many would give up in explaining something or even get angry, Moore is able to keep a solid composure and reach the end of the problem in an amicable and educative way.
I cannot stress enough how much Ian Moore is made for a job in teaching.
Hope this shows what kind of an educator he will be, given the opportunity.
Best regards,
MSc. Guillermo Luque Consuegra.Ian is a great tutor, very kind and patient. He has really helped me feel much more confident.
