About Dr Sam

I am a Postdoctoral researcher with a PhD in Psychology and previous experience as a Lecturer in Cognitive Psychology at the undergraduate level. I have an MSc in Research methods in Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience and a BSc in Psychology. I have experience in data collection and analysis, MSc supervision, essay marking, writing reports, and experimental design. My area of expertise is executive functions and my current research is focused on the effects of video game use on behaviour and cognition.

About the lesson

I have experience in lecturing, exam-based assessment, essay marking, lab-based research methodologies, and statistical analysis of quantitative data. I will help you understand your assignment briefs and provide detailed feedback on essay drafts (where to find reliable sources, formatting and referencing, reporting and conducting statistical analysis). Assistance will also be provided for lecture material wherein I will help you understand the topic in greater detail. Primarily my teaching methodology will begin with a Q&A. We outline where you require assistance and the most effective way to improve your understanding and performance in the subject of Psychology at the undergraduate level.

Very detail oriented and eager to learn. Improve by revising the differences between the Wilcoxon and the Mann-Whitney U as this is something we didn't have time to go over.

I found Sam's lessons extremely informative and tailor made to suit my research questions. He was very clear about the different statistical methods available for my research (e.g., ANOVA, GLM, regression etc) using both parametric, non-parametric and bayesian approach.
He also was very patient and helped me understand the basics more and provided with loads of hand-outs on statistical methods used which I found very helpful.
