About Edward

I am an Upper 6th-form History student (predicted A*) at Oundle School, living in Cambridge during school holidays. I achieved a Grade 9 in History at GCSE, and write for the school History Journal. I have been informally tutoring friends and family in History since Year 11.

About the lesson

Beyond the obvious necessity of content-learning, the key to success in GCSE history (and where the tutor's value is added) is in developing rigorous exam technique. The majority of tutorials would be spent going through or planning essays, and thus developing a proper understanding of what the mark scheme requires an answer to be, in order to achieve a result in the top tiers.

From personal experience, Ed is very knowledgeable and also a very patient tutor. Recently, he helped me prepare for questions on the Spanish Civil war, which at the time I wasn't so confident about. However, after going through the problems I had with it with Ed, he really helped me understand the topic better, highlighting to me the key aspects of the Civil War. He's very friendly and polite. I know Ed as we are in the same boarding house.
