About Cristina
Cristina Di Bernardo, harpist, is a graduate of the Royal College of Music, London (MMus, cum laude). She is currently the principal harpist of the Philharmonic Orchestra at the Municipal Theatre in Santiago, Chile, and was formerly principal harpist at the Opera and Ballet Theatre in Zagreb.
She is a prizewinner of 15 national and international competitions as both a soloist and chamber musician, including the 1st prize at the I International Harp Competition Suoni d’arpa and at the II International Iberic Contest in Chamber music with Harp in Madrid. In recent years, she has collaborated with several orchestras across Europe, Asia, and South America, including the Teatro alla Scala Orchestra, the Filarmonica della Scala in Milan, the Cameristi della Scala, the Puccini Festival Orchestra, the London Mozart Players, the Grange Opera Festival, the opera houses in Ljubljana and Maribor, the Zagreb Philharmonic, and the HRT Radio Television Orchestra. She has performed under the baton of conductors such as M° Zubin Mehta, Riccardo Chailly, Lorin Maazel, and Bernard Haitink.
In addition to her busy schedule as an orchestral and chamber musician, Cristina enjoys teaching and is deeply committed to making her instrument accessible to a wider audience, including those from less privileged backgrounds.
To complement her musical education, she also holds an MSc in Cognitive Psychology from Goldsmiths, University of London, where she focused her research on the biological and cognitive aspects of musical behaviour. She strongly believes in music education and in sharing her passion for music!

Cristina has been a harp teacher since 2013 and she currently runs a thriving private teaching studio. She has previously taught harp at Liceo C. Percoto in Udine, Italy, at Queen Anne’s Boarding School in Reading, England, and at the Youth Orchestra Foundation in Santiago, Chile. Her students routinely achieve distinctions in ABRSM exams and successfully secure places at conservatoires and in youth orchestras.
She teaches classical music to all levels, beginners to advanced, including preparation for orchestral training. Lessons will cover postural awareness, technique exercises, sight-reading, music expression and performance practice. Lessons are currently offered online.
