About Zaira
I am an 18 year old Premier Highland dancer from BC, Canada. I have recently become more competitive and I am starting my second year assistant teaching at my dance school. I am entering my 14th year of dancing. At the moment I am helping with three classes, (4 and 5 year olds, 6-10 year olds, and 12-14 year olds). I am studying to take my Associate's exam in December, which is the equivalent of a professional certification to teach Highland dance.
Highland dance is my passion, and essentially the reason I am taking a gap year after graduating high school. Next year I will be studying Kinesiology with the hopes of a future career in medicine, sports medicine, or physiotherapy. One of my biggest goals in Highland is to perform as part of the dance team in the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo. It is held each year for over 200,000 people in front of Edinburgh Castle. Tattoos are only one example of the many opportunities high level Highland dance has to offer.

There are two options for this course:
1: Are you or your child new to Highland? This option will introduce you to the basics like pas de basques and high cuts, spring points, etc... and soon you'll learn traditional Highland dances, like the Highland Fling, The Sword, The Scottish Lilt, and the Flora.
2: Are you or your child an experienced Beginner or Novice dancer? This option will introduce you to new dances and provide corrections to fix technique or answer any questions your might have.
***Please note: If you currently have a Highland dance teacher I will require an email or phone call from them for their permission for you to participate in my lessons. It is not my intention to replace your dance teacher, only to provide lessons for those in remote locations or extra lessons for those whose teachers are unable to provide extra classes or assistance.

Details
Dancers under age 10 will only need 30-45 minutes depending on the student, in which case the price would be adjusted accordingly. I will most likely be raising my rates once I complete my Associate's exam (so now is the time to try Highland! :)
