About JULIA

I am a passionate ballet teacher with a B.F.A. in Dance and Psychology from York University and a Teaching Diploma from Canada’s National Ballet School. With over 15 years of teaching experience, I have trained and guided students of all ages and levels, from young beginners to advanced pre-professional dancers. My background as both a performer and educator allows me to combine strong technical expertise with an understanding of the mental and physical aspects of learning dance. I am fully bilingual in English and German, and I bring warmth, patience, and dedication to every class. Ballet has been at the center of my life for decades, and I take pride in helping each student discover their potential - whether their goals are professional or personal.

About the lesson

My ballet lessons are designed to meet each student where they are — whether you are an adult beginner exploring ballet for the first time, a dedicated dancer preparing for exams or auditions, or a young student developing foundational technique. I combine my training from Canada’s National Ballet School with over 15 years of teaching experience to create lessons that are structured, supportive, and inspiring. A typical class includes a short warm-up, barre and center work, as well as exercises tailored to your individual goals. My approach blends strong classical technique with a holistic focus on musicality, artistry, and physical well-being. What sets me apart as a teacher is my ability to break down complex movements into achievable steps while fostering confidence and enjoyment in every dancer. I believe in personalized instruction: no two students are the same, and I adapt my methods to ensure progress at every level. My lessons are ideal for: - Adults returning to or starting ballet for fitness, artistry, or personal growth - Young dancers looking for a solid technical foundation in a positive environment - Advanced students preparing for pointe work, competitions, or auditions Whether your goal is building strength, refining technique, or simply finding joy in dance, I am committed to helping you succeed.

Details

I have a small ballet studio at my home in Maple, ON, equipped with ballet flooring, mirrors and ballet barres. We can schedule classes there or at your place if you have an appropriate room at no extra cost (+$5.00 travel fee coming to your place anywhere in the GTA). We can also book studio space at a ballet studio of your choice (pending availability of the studio), in this case, we can discuss the rental rate of the studio and I will do my best to help meet your budget.
