About Eliora
Hello! I am a Biology tutor with an MSc degree and over 4 years of experience teaching 200+ students across GCSE, A-Level, and university level. Biology is a subject I am genuinely and deeply passionate about — the complexity and elegance of living systems, from the molecular machinery operating inside a single cell to the dynamics of entire ecological communities, continues to fascinate me, and I love sharing that sense of wonder and curiosity with every student I work with.
Over the years I have developed a teaching style that is warm, engaging, and highly structured — students consistently tell me that my explanations make topics feel far simpler and more logical than they expected, and that I have a particular ability to identify the specific point of confusion in a student's understanding and address it directly and clearly rather than just re-explaining everything from the start.
The topics I cover span the complete Biology curriculum: Cell Biology and Cell Division (mitosis, meiosis, the cell cycle), Genetics and Inheritance (Mendelian genetics, molecular genetics, gene expression, epigenetics), Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (DNA replication, transcription, translation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, CRISPR), Human Physiology (cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, endocrine, and immune systems in depth), Ecology and Ecosystems, Evolution and Natural Selection, Microbiology, and Plant Biology. I am experienced with all major exam boards and always align my teaching precisely to the student's specific course and assessment requirements.

My approach to teaching Biology is built around the belief that students learn best when they can see how individual facts, processes, and mechanisms connect together to form a bigger, coherent picture of how living things actually work. Too often, Biology is taught as an overwhelming list of disconnected things to memorize, and students end up drowning in facts without any real understanding of the systems those facts describe. I teach it in a completely different way.
Every session I deliver is structured around building connected understanding, using detailed diagrams, color-coded flowcharts, and carefully constructed concept maps to make complex multi-stage processes — like cell division, gene expression, the immune response, or the cardiac cycle — easy to follow, understand, and remember. I am a strong believer in visual learning as a tool for Biology, and I find that students who build visual understanding retain information far more effectively and can apply it far more flexibly than those who rely purely on written notes.
For essay-based and extended-answer questions — which are a significant and often decisive part of most Biology exams — I teach students a clear, explicit framework for constructing high-quality responses: state a precise point, explain the underlying mechanism in detail, provide a relevant specific example, and link clearly back to the question. I practice this framework repeatedly with students using real past exam questions across different topics until it becomes completely automatic.
I also cover data interpretation, graph analysis, and experimental design thoroughly in all my sessions, as these skills are consistently examined in modern Biology assessments and are frequently areas where well-prepared students can gain a significant advantage over their less-prepared peers. Every lesson I deliver is tailored precisely to the student's specific exam board specification, ensuring that all preparation is always focused, relevant, and directly useful.
