About Jake

I'm a producer/singer/guitarist/bassist/mandolinist/banjo player/even ukulele/I also engineer/I'm an artist/currently writing my second novel, still editing my first/and I've done a bit of acting. Music is my life and passion, I put my first album out at the age of 16 and honestly, I think it still holds up. I spend my time creating, whether it's writing, composing, painting, or cooking, I love to bring things into the world in the form of my expression and teach others to do the same.

About the lesson

I'll work with you to design a lesson plan complete with homework depending on how much time you want to dedicate to learning, I would recommend a weekly lesson of an hour and at least 30 seconds of daily practice but that's bare minimum, 15 mins would be more ideal. Whether you've been playing for years and want to learn how to compose and write songs, learn how to put together chord progressions and solo over them or have never picked up the guitar sitting in your living room for months, I can meet you at your level and design a course specifically for you. My teaching method is to use a webcam service like discord and sit in front of my webcam with a guitar and have my student do the same, from there I'll instruct and observe them and send them digital materials that explain key music theory concepts. I prefer to combine form and theory in my lessons. I'm also available to travel to you if you live within Chicago if you prefer in person lessons.
