About Hayden

I grew up in a very musical family, with both my parents working as full-time musicians in New Zealand, and my 3 brothers and I all learning at least 2 instruments each. I studied piano with some amazing teachers from concert pianists to jazz professors, and an array of passionate, knowledgeable tutors along the way. I have very fond memories of my piano teachers and one thing I love the most about teaching is watching those moments of success in my students!

About the lesson

I have been teaching piano for almost 10 years, mainly to young kids and teenagers, and have come to develop a broad approach to learning. I believe that learning the piano isn't just about learning how to play the instrument, but a more whole approach to music in general. I have had the pleasure of teaching students who have carried on their learning through to university/tertiary level study, teaching and tutoring in composition and producing music of their own. Improving students' knowledge of music theory through graded exams or in a more practical fashion. But mostly, I hope to make it fun, and let them discover their own passion in music and the piano. Lessons are typically 30 minutes long for beginners, and range to 60 min lessons.
