About Ben

I’m a director, performer, movement director and creative mentor with over 25 years’ professional experience. I trained at Bodywork Cambridge and later gained an MA in Drama Directing from Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. My own work crosses theatre, movement, devising and adaptation. I’ve also received Arts Council funding to develop my creative practice and now use what I’ve learnt to help other artists find practical ways into making their own work.

About the lesson

Bring me the beginnings of a project, an adaptation, a piece of writing, an idea or something you’ve started making but can’t quite unlock. Together we’ll explore practical ways into the work, test ideas, find structure and work out what the project needs next. You don’t need to arrive knowing what the finished piece will be.

Session Rates

My mentoring sessions are designed as focused blocks of creative development, rather than traditional hourly lessons.

£150 – up to 3 hours
A focused session to explore your project, work through ideas, get unstuck or find your next steps.

£250 – full day
For deeper development of a project, adaptation, devised work or R&D process.

£1,000 – five-day creative development intensive
A concentrated week working together to make substantial progress on your project.

Please note: the £150 rate displayed by Superprof covers a session of up to three hours – it is not £150 per hour.

I want us to have enough time to properly explore the work, test ideas and follow where the creative process takes us, rather than watching the clock.
