About Daniel

I attended St. Michael's Choir School from ages 8-18 where I was trained by professional opera singers to be part of a Church performance choir. Throughout this time, I was a part of select professional choirs and solo quartets that performed on television and across Canada and Europe. After my graduation, I began singing lead in rock/punk/ and funk bands, one of which won the 2024 Battle of the Bands hosted at The Mansion House. During my university career I have also performed at many acoustic open mics and was part of an a cappella group for a year somewhere in there. For the last two and a half years, I have been working with the local Cantabile Youth Choir in Kingston and as a vocal teacher in my community for kids and adults.

About the lesson

Singing, like dancing or fighting, is a full body sport and relies a lot on being aware of your body and knowing how to use it. Stretching, moving, and getting in your body then, are all important parts of a warm-up. Ultimately my aim will be to help you gain awareness of how you produce sound so that you can improve your singing. Beyond basic vocal exercises, we'll practice what you want to learn. As a side quest, we'll also aim to connect you with your inspiration, write music if that's of interest, practice improv and maybe find stillness in the silence that follows a well supported belt.
