About Carel

Hi, I'm a psychology graduate and trainee psychologist with nearly a decade of academic study and hands-on clinical experience across Dubai, London, and Cyprus. I hold an MSc in Clinical Applications of Psychology (First Class, Kingston University London), a BSc (Hons) in Counseling (Middlesex University Dubai), and a Graduate Membership with the British Psychological Society (MBPsS).
My clinical background means I don't just teach psychology from a textbook, I bring real-world context to every topic, which students consistently find makes the subject click in a way that reading alone doesn't.

About the lesson

Every student I work with is different, so I always begin with a short conversation to understand where you are, what you're finding difficult, and what you're working toward. From there, I design each session around your specific needs whether that's breaking down a concept you've never quite understood, working through past exam questions together, or building a structured plan for your dissertation.
My sessions are one-to-one and available both online via video call and in-person, where I come to you whether that's your home, a library, or a quiet café. I keep things conversational and relaxed. I find students learn far better when they feel comfortable asking questions without judgment. I use real-world examples drawn from my clinical background to bring psychological theory to life, which most students find makes abstract concepts much easier to remember and apply.
A typical session might involve explaining a topic clearly, working through exam questions or essay structure together, and ending with a short recap and a clear action point so you leave knowing exactly what to do next. I don't believe in just talking at you for an hour, so the sessions are interactive, practical, and always focused on what will actually move the needle for you.
I cover everything from GCSE and A-Level Psychology through to undergraduate coursework, research methods, SPSS, and postgraduate dissertation support.
