About Kieren

I have been teaching Spanish for over 15 years! I attended the highly-esteemed Middlebury Summer Language Program where I mastered fluency in 6 weeks and went on to minor in Spanish as an undergraduate at Columbia University.  

I speak four languages and Spanish is my favorite. I literally speak it every day of my life.

I am a Broadway actress and a published author - so, I bring a lot of fun and interactiveness to our sessions. I've tested for Saturday Night Live and won a poetry award from a Poet Laureate. And I've learned that confidence comes from repetition along with playfulness. At Middlebury, we immersed ourselves in the language and that beginning, that foundation, gave me a beautiful confidence and joy for the language that I carry to this day.

I've worked with students from dozens of Los Angeles schools as well as social workers, stay-at-home moms, private detectives, NBA stars, you name it :)

About the lesson

I focus on both writing and speaking. The truth is, when we are learning a foreign language, speaking it is the most important thing.

So, I begin every session with a conversational bit to open us both up to the fun of the sessions and the beauty of the language.

As well, together we create a foundation for the language - through repetition and playful games. I find that the more relaxed the student is, the more fun they have and the easier it is to learn.

Then, we build upon our foundational verbs and conversational skills with each session. And before you know it, you are speaking confidently. It is a beautiful and extraordinarily practical language that will enrich your life.
