About Oliver

I am a public speaking and rhetoric tutor in London. I am able to offer lessons that are focused on success in the advocacy exams for the Bar Practice Course, or more general tutorials on public speaking and classical rhetoric for presentations, speeches, and acting.

About the lesson

I am a qualified barrister, with a PhD and an MSc in Spatial Planning from University College London and an MA in Philosophy from the University of St Andrews. I have a wide variety of teaching experience, having taught children in English language schools abroad, debating to children and teenagers in secondary school, and private tuition to adults and teenagers. I also ran a project teaching debating and public speaking in prisons in London and the South East. I am currently working as a tutor whilst studying a PhD in Planning Law at UCL. Tutoring offered: 1. Law: BPC, GDL, Degree, A-Level, AS-Level, GCSE 2. Advocacy and Public Speaking Training: Moots, Presentations, Acting Roles. Perfect! I’ve just had my first lesson with Oliver and I can already see an improvement in my public speaking. He broke down what I was struggling with and gave me some really useful tips. I highly recommend him!

Kit did really well in our first lesson and shows promise in public speaking. We covered why public speaking can be intimidating and how to address that using simple methods such as speaking slowly, pausing, and repeating key points. We also discussed developing an awareness audiences are generally sympathetic and supportive. We agreed to have another session on how to prepare a speech quickly and efficiently, which I am very much looking forward to.
