About Robert

Hi! My name is Robert Thomas Preston, I am a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) member with over two decades of professional experience in film, television, and commercial acting. I have been a SAG member since 2001 and have appeared in theatrical films, television productions, and national commercials, working with some of the industry’s largest and most respected studios.

With a deep understanding of both performance and the business of acting, I bring a real-world, results-driven approach to my teaching. I have been an acting instructor for the past eight years, during which time I have helped numerous students land their first professional bookings and successfully transition into union work. Many of my students have earned Taft-Hartley status, granting them SAG eligibility through professional productions.

In addition to coaching actors, I remain actively involved in the industry behind the scenes. I currently serve as the Chief Operating Officer of a production company based in Venice, California, giving me firsthand insight into casting decisions, production workflows, and what today’s industry truly looks for in performers.

My combined experience as a working actor, instructor, and executive allows me to guide students with clarity, honesty, and a practical understanding of what it takes to build a sustainable acting career.

About the lesson

My acting lessons are built on real world experience and practical technique, shaped by 25 years working professionally in theatre, commercials, and on camera productions as a Screen Actors Guild (SAG) member. Whether you’re brand new to acting or a working performer looking to sharpen your edge, each lesson is tailored to your individual goals.

Training focuses on strong foundational craft truthful acting, character development, emotional access, and script analysis while also addressing the realities of today’s industry. For on camera actors, we work extensively on audition technique, commercial copy, scene work, cold reads, and building confidence in front of the camera. For theatre focused actors, lessons emphasize text work, presence, voice, and physicality.

You’ll receive honest, constructive feedback in a supportive environment designed to push you to the next level. My goal is not just to help you perform better in class, but to prepare you for auditions, callbacks, and professional work with clarity, confidence, and consistency.

Lessons are available for teens and adults, one on one or small groups, and can be adapted for theatrical, commercial, or film focused training.
