About Elowyn

I am an experienced flute tutor with 16 years of teaching High School, College students, and adults, having successfully guided over 300 students. My teaching philosophy emphasises patience, personalised guidance, and balancing technical learning with creative exploration.

I focus on tone, technique, rhythm, music theory, and expressive playing, while creating interactive and engaging lessons. I encourage students to perform in concerts, recitals, competitions, and school or college events to gain practical experience and build confidence.

Many of my students have achieved remarkable milestones, which I celebrate as a reflection of their dedication. My goal is to provide a supportive and motivating learning environment where students can develop their musical skills, gain confidence, and cultivate a lifelong passion for music while enjoying their flute journey.

About the lesson

My teaching approach for flute is structured, adaptable, and focused on real-world music learning. I begin by understanding each student’s level, learning style, and musical goals to create lessons that suit their needs.

I teach flute techniques such as breath control, embouchure development, finger movement, tone shaping, articulation, and rhythm in simple and organised steps. I maintain open communication so lessons are interactive and effective.

I use real-life examples and musical case studies from live performances and recordings to show students how flute skills are applied in actual music.

Along with flute playing, I teach related subjects including music theory, rhythm training, ear training, scale development, sight reading, and basic improvisation. I also guide students on practice routines and stage confidence.
