My Teaching Approach and Methodology

1. Teaching Methods and Techniques

My teaching approach is child-centered, patient, and adaptable to each learner's individual needs, abilities, and learning pace. As a Registered Psychometrician with experience supporting neurodivergent children, I understand the importance of creating a safe, encouraging, and structured learning environment.

I use interactive and engaging techniques such as visual aids, guided activities, repetition, positive reinforcement, and practical examples to make learning easier and more enjoyable. For students with autism and other learning differences, I aim to adapt activities based on their strengths, interests, attention span, and individual learning needs.

2. A Typical Lesson Plan

My lessons follow a structured but flexible approach:

Introduction and Warm-Up: Begin with a friendly conversation, review previous lessons, and introduce the day's learning objectives.

Lesson Proper: Explain concepts using simple instructions, visual materials, demonstrations, and relatable examples.

Guided Practice: Work through exercises and activities together to strengthen understanding.

Independent Practice: Allow students to apply what they have learned through age-appropriate tasks and activities.

Review and Feedback: Recap important concepts, recognize achievements, address difficulties, and provide positive encouragement.

I also incorporate short breaks and interactive activities when needed, particularly for younger learners and students who benefit from additional support.

3. What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor

What sets me apart is my background in psychology and my hands-on experience in a therapy center. As a Registered Psychometrician, I bring an understanding of individual differences, child development, behavior, and learning needs.

My experience has also allowed me to work alongside therapists, prepare learning materials, assist with assessments, observe children's learning progress, and support activities for neurodivergent children. I value patience, empathy, consistency, and individualized attention. My goal is not simply to help students complete their academic requirements but also to develop their confidence, independence, and love for learning.

4. Who Are My Lessons For?

I welcome students who need academic guidance, foundational learning support, and individualized instruction, particularly:

Early Years Learners: Preschool, kindergarten, and early elementary students developing foundational literacy, numeracy, communication, and learning skills.

Elementary Students: Learners who need assistance with homework, reading, writing, mathematics, and general academic subjects.

Students with Autism: Children who benefit from structured, patient, and individualized academic support adapted to their learning needs.

Neurodivergent Learners: Children who benefit from flexible teaching strategies, visual supports, repetition, and positive reinforcement.

Students Needing Additional Academic Support: Learners who need extra guidance, reinforcement of lessons, and confidence-building in their studies.

I strive to make every lesson meaningful, engaging, and inclusive, ensuring that each student feels supported, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential.
