About James
I am a retired elementary school teacher in Ontario. The ladder stages of my career were spent in Learning Resource. I have SPEC ED Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 qualifications. With that being said, I have vast experience working with special needs children as well as struggling students. I have been trained in numerous Reading Recovery programs, with emphasis on Phonetic Awareness.I have had great success in moving struggling and sometimes non-readers to grade level.

I am highly trained in various Reading Recovery programs and spent the last years of my teaching career delivering such programs to individual/small groups (3-6) within the public education system. I do an initial assessment first, which is done in person as is further sessions. What I do is slightly different from most tutors. You or your significant other must be present while I am teaching. The reason for this, is because as I teach your child, I also teach you. One session per week is usually sufficient with the expectation that you continue the learning until my next visit. Each session builds on the previous one. If your schedule does not allow for you to work with your child as often, additional sessions per week can be added.

Details
You can come to me (I live in Milton) or at an additional cost, I can come to you. The initial assessment is $50-$70 depending on time required (most jk/sk students can be done in less than one hour for $50). Assessment results will be shared and explained, after which, a detailed plan of action will be put in place. Subsequent 1 hour sessions are $40/hour.
