About Doris
I have taught elementary students for the last 27 years.
My last two years I had the privilege to work with small groups of students who were struggling in their homeroom class. Relationships with students is essential. Once that is established and the student feels comfortable, they are willing to take more risks. Confidence and positive reinforcement is essential to learning.

- Specific topics to be determined with student depending on their interest and abilities. Conversations related to topic between myself and student.
- Reading passages used to expand vocabulary and comprehension. I will read the passage or story, discuss new words and we will answer questions together. May recommend videos for student to watch to reinforce vocabulary.
- Will end with specific new words and their meanings for students to review as homework.
