About Vladimir

Volodymyr Bykhun is a Ukrainian trumpeter from Severodonetsk, Ukraine. He began his professional career while studying in Ukraine, performing with the Luhansk Philharmonic Orchestra, the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Ukrainian Youth Symphony Orchestra, where he frequently served as principal trumpet. Through these engagements, he toured extensively across Europe, performing in some of the world’s leading concert halls, including the Berlin Philharmonie, Konzerthaus Berlin, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, and Kölner Philharmonie.

Volodymyr graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London and will begin his Master of Arts studies there in 2026. Alongside his studies, he has established himself as an active freelance trumpeter in London and across the UK, performing regularly with professional orchestras and ensembles. He is also a frequent member of the Royal Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra and has worked with distinguished conductors including John Wilson, Sir Mark Elder, Roderick Cox, and Paavo Järvi. In 2026, he will make his BBC Proms debut.

In 2022, Volodymyr participated in advanced trumpet masterclasses in France with internationally renowned soloists Mark David and Eric Aubier. He is a founding member of the award-winning trumpet quintet FiveBy5, which performs throughout the UK and Europe. The ensemble has appeared at international festivals in France and Switzerland and is scheduled to perform at the Lucerne Festival. In 2025, FiveBy5 received both the Brass Chamber Prize from the Royal Academy of Music and the Royal Philharmonic Society Phil Johnson Memorial Prize. The ensemble recently recorded its debut album, which is scheduled for release in November 2026.

About the lesson

I am an active professional trumpeter and a graduate of the Bachelor’s programme at the Royal Academy of Music in London. This year, I am beginning my Master’s degree. I enjoy working with students of all levels and am passionate about sharing the knowledge and experience I have gained throughout my musical journey, particularly during my studies at the Royal Academy of Music, helping each student reach their full potential.
