About Finn
I want to teach bagpipes to share the joy of this unique instrument, preserve cultural heritage, and inspire students. Through music, I aim to build community, nurture creativity, and empower individuals to express themselves, fostering a lifelong love for this art form.
About me:
Finn is a bagpipe/whistle player from the Isle of Skye who has been surrounded by traditional music from a young age. He started learning the chanter age nine, taught by Niall Stewart. At thirteen he joined his local “Lochalsh Junior Pipe Band” who went on to win the World Pipe Band Championships in their grade in 2017. He attended Feis an Earraich from the ages 11-16yrs old, attending bagpipe and whistle workshops taught by Ian Ruari Finlayson, Angus MacCoinnich, Alana NicAonghais, Seonaidh Mac An T-Saoir and Calum Macrimmon.
After leaving school he completed a HNC in Traditional Music Performance at Riverside Music College and is currently a piping student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.
Finn is a founding member of the up and coming trad band Falasgair, also plays with Scottish Electronic outfit Valtos and is part of a new techno/house/trad project “MAL”. He is also a new member of the GRIT Orchestra. “The GRIT Orchestra unites Scotland’s leading folk, jazz and classical musicians. Renowned for their ‘trailblazing spirit’” (The Guardian)
More recently he reached the semi finals of BBC Young Traditional Musician of The year 2025.

In my bagpipe lessons, I hope my students develop a deep appreciation for music, master the intricate techniques of playing, build confidence in their abilities, foster teamwork through ensemble practice (through looking at bagpipes in a group environment I.e with guitars/pianos), and cultivate a lifelong passion for the rich tradition of bagpiping or whistle playing.
