About Mateo

I am a first-year Life Sciences student at McMaster University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science. In middle/high school, I always struggled with certain topics in math, biology, and chemistry. Throughout my experience, I taught myself specific tips and tricks which helped me perform very well (96% Avg) and get into my top university program.

Apart from academics, I am constantly described as a very patient person who loves to help people. I get a strong wave of happiness whenever I am helpful to someone, which is why I always find ways to do so.

I have tutored two of my younger sisters in the past, which has given me experience and built strong skills to properly teach students who have difficulty understanding certain topics.

About the lesson

My lessons are specifically designed for middle school to high school students. I am a recent high school graduate who has learned key skills and tricks to understand commonly difficult concepts.

My approach:
1. Learn about the student's learning skills and struggles within a certain subject. This will help me identify what we need to focus on and how the student best learns content.
2. Teach the concepts that the student struggles with, individualized to that specific student's learning preference.
3. Practice with questions related to their course and upcoming graded work (assignments, tests, etc.). This is the key learning moment where the student can apply the skills and tricks they learn to application-style questions.
4. Check in with the student to see if they have any more questions or if they are still unsure about a certain topic/concept.
