About Morgan Patten
I'm an oil painter working representationally with 8 years of experience as a practicing artist. I received my BA from Western Washington University in Washington State, then attended the Georgetown Atelier, an intensive classical traditional art program in Seattle to further develop my foundational drawing and painting skills. I've taught teens at the Bellevue Arts Museum as well as Gage Academy's Summer Teen Art camps and other charter schools in the Seattle Area. I'm now currently getting my MFA at Brooklyn College CUNY with a focus on drawing and painting. I have experience working in graphite, charcoal, watercolor, gouache, oil, acrylic, as well as oil pastel. I've exhibited in Seattle, Bellingham, and Kyoto. I currently live in New York, where I work and study.

I have all the technical skills regarding painting and drawing that i can pass on that you will ever need to learn. I have received techinical art training and learned the optics of drawing and painting from a classical atelier after receiving my BA. This has helped me develop a skillset that isn't commonly taught in university programs, and now as an MFA graduate student I am able to apply the skills i deem necessary to make my work. I will be able to help you push yourself to make work that you feel is necessary to make. I have a wide knowledge of art history, and can help point and guide you to other artists throughout history that may help be a point of inspiration and value to you. I am most of all here to help inspire change or a passion in making your work, which is what matters most, and determine what will help you most whether you are making art for fun, making art for an assignment, or making art for your graduate student portfolio. I will give you personalized critiques, lectures, and individualized recommendations based upon your own goals. My lessons are for anyone over the age of 8. I have a lot of former experience working with teens and kids, but would be more than happy to work with older students and adults.

Details
Students must buy their own supplies for the sessions, whether they be in person or online. Coming to my studio is encouraged for in-person demos but if requested to visit to your studio space there will be a travel fee. Can also do demos and critiques virtually.
