About Evelyn
My name is Evelyn, and I'm a sophomore at UW Seattle. I'm undeclared, but considering a degree Math or Communications. I work at the Daily, UW's newspaper, as both a writer and photographer, and before that I was editor-in-chief of my high school newspaper. I'm originally from San Francisco, CA, where I did classical ballet for 14 years, performed in plays like Twelfth Night, and worked at my local grocery store. I was a teacher's assistant in Algebra I and AP Statistics, so I have experience teaching math to high school students. I think of math as a second language, and I try to help those I tutor acheive fluency through practicing foundational skills and critical thinking. I believe intelligence is taught, not inherited, and everybody can learn to be good at anything!

I mainly have experience in math tutoring, but I think interdisciplinary work is important and if your student needs additional help with English, social sciences, college essay writing, even art, I'll work with them to balance subjects and study plans. I'm an artist, writer, and performer, but also a mathematician, familiar with coding, and I'm curious about the natural world. I think blending STEM and art improves understanding in both, as well as builds an understanding of humanity itself. I hope we can work together to hone your student's learning for the future!
