About Ana

I am an experienced secondary English teacher currently working in the United Kingdom, as well as an AQA examiner. I have four years of secondary-school teaching experience and hold a degree in English Language with Psychology and a master’s degree.

My classroom and examining experience has given me a detailed understanding of the British curriculum, GCSE assessment objectives and the qualities examiners reward in successful responses.

I am a patient, encouraging and academically ambitious teacher. I believe students make the strongest progress when expectations are high, explanations are clear and feedback is honest, precise and constructive.

I take time to understand each student’s abilities, goals and learning needs. My aim is not only to improve examination performance, but also to develop confident, thoughtful and independent readers and writers.

About the lesson

My lessons are personalised to each student’s current attainment, curriculum and individual goals. I begin by identifying the student’s strengths and areas for development before creating a focused programme designed to build knowledge, confidence and independent examination skills.

Students receive clear explanations, guided analysis, model responses and structured practice using relevant examination-style questions. I provide precise and constructive feedback, helping students understand not only what they need to improve, but exactly how to improve it.

I offer specialist support with:

• GCSE English Language and English Literature
• AQA assessment objectives and examination technique
• Reading comprehension and inference
• Language and structural analysis
• Analytical essay writing
• Creative and transactional writing
• Unseen poetry and poetry comparison
• Revision planning and timed examination practice

As a practising UK secondary English teacher and AQA examiner, I understand the standards expected in GCSE examinations. My lessons are academically rigorous, supportive and adapted to the individual student rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.
